SKEMA Belo Horizonte and SKEMA Ventures joined forces to organize the first STARTUP KAFE of the new academic year in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. As always, the event was steeped in innovation, which also reflected in its location. To celebrate the art of pitching, the STARTUP KAFE took place at the museum of arts: MMGerdau – Museu das Minas e do Metal.
The event was introduced by Prof. Geneviève Poulingue, SKEMA Belo Horizonte’s campus director, who highlighted the strong anchoring of SKEMA in the local entrepreneurship ecosystem. This was followed by a presentation of SKEMA Ventures value chain by Prof. Philippe Chereau, SKEMA Ventures director. Various success stories of ‘Startups made in SKEMA Ventures’, such as Père&Fish, Bieropolis, Wibes, Time and Joy, and Le Rendez-Vous, were shared with the audience, testifying the reality of GloCal Entrepreneurship.
Creativity at its best
Needless to say, the examples of these student-entrepreneurs were quite inspiring for the eight pitchers from SKEMA Business School and our partner SEED accelerator. The projects ranged from smart educative plants for kids to smartphone-embedded cryptocurrencies, B2B marketplaces, e-gaming, and cleantech.
The pitchers benefitted from the numerous feedbacks and questions of other students and entrepreneurship experts. Â As always with the STARTUP KAFES, the friendly atmosphere of the event was a key component of its success and many peer-to-peer discussions took place during the happy hour that followed the pitching session.
In Belo Horizonte, its GloCal entrepreneurship all the way!
