On a fateful day, Eric Barnoud, a SKEMA Alumni from the 2008 batch, left his job as business development manager to venture on the roads of Central Asia with nothing but his backpack. On his return, he set up his small fish smoking business, and, today, sells his produce at a market in Ile-de-France.

Eric and the salmon is a long story that goes back over fifteen years, when he smoked his first fish in his parents’ garden, just for the sake of tasting. If he had been told that he would one day make it his job, he surely would not have believed it! Yet today, the 35-year-old entrepreneur has set up his company La Fumerie du Coin. Favoring short circuits, Eric uses salmons that are carefully selected from breeders and sells them directly to the public. This direct contact with customers is a major driver for his business.
