SKEMA launches a learning-by-doing program dedicated to entrepreneurship

Designed by SKEMA Ventures entrepreneurship experts in partnership with SEED (Startups and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development), the “Strategic Entrepreneurship: From Theory to Practice” program will allow students to develop consulting support for 22 startups.

SKEMA Business School launched a joint project called Strategic Entrepreneurship: from Theory to Practice on September 3 with its partner SEED. More than 90 international students from master’s courses in international business, finance, project management and business development, who took part in this initiative as strategy consultants, will be applying the knowledge and tools they learned through their courses to support the development of 22 startups that are currently accelerated by SEED, the accelerator of the Government of Minas Gerais. The startup teams will also attend the courses. The project will also count on the participation of 19 Brazilian students from Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC).

During the next four months, the students will be using their knowledge of strategic management and entrepreneurship practices to help the startups fine-tune their competitive and growth strategy.

“SKEMA is closely linked to the new economy — an economy that uses technological, social and economic knowledge to drive value creation and growth. This positioning led us to set up a campus in Belo Horizonte, which is located at the heart of technology centers,” explains Geneviève Poulingue, Dean, SKEMA Brazil. The students see this initiative as an ideal occasion to acquire new experiences and skills. “I have done some internships before, but I lacked a practical vision of what a startup really is. Now, thanks to this course, I have the opportunity to obtain an inside perspective on what these companies do,” says Cecile Fille, a student at SKEMA.
