Professor Philippe Chereau, Director of SKEMA Ventures, recently shared the latest practices in business modeling and business planning, stemming from both academic research and entrepreneurs’ mentoring, during a conference at SKEMA Business School’s Belo Horizonte campus in Brazil. The conference, which was on the topic ‘From strategy to business model to business plan’, was attended by students, decision-makers of the Minas Gerais’ entrepreneurship ecosystem, business angels, and academics from SKEMA and Fondaçao Dom Cabral.
The need for entrepreneurs to align their strategic positioning choices with their business model (BM) to build a solid and credible business plan that can also serve as a real tool for steering their startup’s development was also highlighted by Prof. Chereau. He explained that the business plan is the story-writing that reflects the coherence of the BM of the firm. The more aligned the BM components are with strategy choices, the higher the credibility of the business plan. And the more aligned the BM components are with one another, the higher the solidity (and generated trust) of the business plan.
The event also included numerous exchanges and sharing of experiences, enriched by the testimonials of the experts and practitioners who promulgated various tips to the students. The detailed content of the conference can be found on https://skema.ventures/tools/the-entrepreneurial-tool-kit/.
