MOOC: Learn how to ‘do more with less’ through frugal innovation

Social entrepreneurs differ from other entrepreneurs as they deliberately put more emphasis on innovation that creates value for others than on innovation that captures value for themselves. However, this also leads to them facing tougher barriers. This is why the development of new approaches to innovation needs to be transferred to social entrepreneurs. Frugal innovation is one of the best approaches to achieve this as it allows social entrepreneurs to do more with less.

Through this MOOC, divided into three parts, Dr Philippe Chereau, SKEMA Ventures director, connects social entrepreneurship with frugal innovation practices and explores different ways through which one can become a frugal entrepreneur.

Part 1:  Social entrepreneurs are innovators of societal change

Understand what comprises social entrepreneurship, different issues related to it, and how social entrepreneurs differ from other entrepreneurs.

Part 2:  Doing more with less

In this section, Dr Chereau explains the concept of frugal innovation, its examples, and essential factors/conditions related to it.

Part 3:  Social entrepreneurs are frugal entrepreneurs

Learn how to become a frugal entrepreneur through value creation and cost reduction, focusing on core functionalities, applying the reconstructionist approach to frugal innovation, and designing a frugal ecosystem strategy.
