UPComingVC, a startup and venture capital education platform, is conducting the third edition of its Venture Capital Investment Challenge on January 28, 2019, at Station F in Paris. The SKEMA-supported challenge aims at training SaaS and consumer goods startups to understand how to raise funds. It will include a full-scale simulation of a startup fundraising round where participants will put themselves in the shoes of venture capitalists and invest mock-up tickets in real startups that will act as if they were raising a round. You can participate in one of the following three categories of the challenge: 1) Startups, 2) Those who want to be a venture capitalist, and 3) Venture Capitalists.
If you participate as a startup, you’ll receive full-scale training in the fundraising process, the opportunity to connect with successful venture capitalists and do the groundwork for your potential upcoming funding rounds. If you’re participating because you want to become a venture capitalist (VC), the challenge will enable you to test your investment and due diligence skills with genuine startups and seasoned VCs. You could also get hired as an intern, analyst or associate at a venture capital firm. If you are already a VC, the challenge will help you identify talented, aspiring VCs for your team and meet entrepreneurs.
The challenge will be divided into four parts – “Ask me anything” intro, Due diligence workshops, Challengers demo day, and VCs wrap up. Participants will benefit from the mentorship of prominent venture capitalists who will be sharing their methods, insights and best practices. There’s a selection process in place to select the applications. It will be based on merit and first-come, first-serve basis.
UPComingVC was launched by SKEMA Business School Alumni Raphael Grieco (PGE 2006) in 2016.
